Jay Flippin
The scope of Jay's career is nothing short of staggering.
Spanning over 40 years he has been involved in virtually
every aspect of music. His career as a performer, teacher, clinician, arranger,
band leader, composer, producer and accompanist has spanned just about every
style of music. In addition of being on the faculty of Morehead State University
for 13 years, he has done hundreds of radio and television jingles, video and
film scores, conducted musicals and performed as featured soloist and accompanist
in virtually thousands of concerts all over the USA, Africa, Europe, Central
America and the Carribean. HIs numerous awards include an Emmy nomination for
the score of the documentary "Hearts of Glass (1998), the Worldfest Houston
Platinum Award for the score of "Ashes to Glory" (2000), an Emmy nomination
for Best Original Song for NBC's daytime hit soap opera "Passions"(2001),
as well as several awards for his distinguished career in academics from Morehead
State University. He has performed and appeared with a wide range of celebrities
and celebrity musicians including Steve Allen, Clark Terry, Joe Porcaro, James
Moody, Red Rodney, Cal Collins, Dave Koz, Evan Marks, DeeDee Bridgewater, Bernadette
Peters, Bobby Vinton, Johnny Rivers, George Carlin, The Neville Brothers, Glen
Campbell, Peaches and Herb, Wilson Pickett, Henny Youngman, Frankie Avalon and
Percy Sledge.
